On July 3, 2024, Porf. Chaozhong Li, the researcher at the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was invited to present an academic report titled “Phosphorylation of Alkyl Radicals”. He discussed the history of free radical chemistry spanning the past 120 years, highlighted the research characteristics and challenges in the field, and outlined the research direction, topic design, and theoretical advancements made by his research team in the innovative area of free radical chemistry. He also shared insights on the discovery, analysis, and resolution of key challenges encountered during the exploration process. The report specifically focused on the free radical phosphorylation reaction studied by the research group, which has made significant progress in this area. Notably, Researcher Li Chaozhong's team was the first to report on the copper-catalyzed coupling reaction of alkyl radicals with triphosphate esters, paving the way for new advancements in organic phosphine chemistry research.
