Profile
Lian-Sheng is a Distinguished Professor working on biological control of plant pests with natural enemies, biological invasion by alien insect pests and integrated pest management in crops. In recent years, his research has mainly focused on applied science in agricultural pest management with natural enemies. His work has resulted in successful applications of many natural enemies, such as Encarsia, Eretmocerus, Harmonia axyridis, Trichogramma, Anastatus and Mesocomys, in biological control of Agriforest pests over 400,000 Ha. He has served on editorial boards of many international journals including Biological Control and Frontiers in Physiology. He has published more than 200 scientific papers. In 2021, he was invited by Annual Review of Entomology to publish a paper entitled ‘Biological Control with Trichogramma in China: History, Present Status, and Perspectives’. His research has been supported by numerous national grants and he has received multiple awards and distinctions, including the Leadership in Scientific Innovation of Distinguished Talents awarded by Ministry of Science and Technology of China in 2014.
